While you can find jars of Randall Beans on the shelves of grocery stores all over the Midwest, we are still very much a local business. Our plant in Tekonsha, Michigan is where everything started and that is where our hearts still live. The Tekonsha community is so very important to the Randall family.
That is why this past May we were so extremely honored to be a sponsor of the Girls on the Run of Branch County 5K run! Girls on the Run is an organization that seeks to inspire girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. The team of trained coaches instills values through running games, discussions and activities that teach confidence, character, caring, competence and the power of connections.
One way the ways these girls can lead healthy lifestyles is by making smart choices in the kinds of food they choose to fuel their bodies. With Randall Beans being such a great source for the kinds of protein and fiber necessary for a healthy diet, our partnering up made perfect sense!
Girls on the Run programs focus on the “whole girl”, not just mental health and self-confidence but also teaching healthy lifestyles, fitness and healthy eating habits. We supported this tremendous cause by supplying product information, samples and even simple recipes – like our Black Bean Chicken Quesadillas and Black Bean Chocolate Truffles – as healthy, delicious, fun and simple recipes they can use to expand their cooking abilities and add protein and fiber to their diets.
The day of the 5K was loads of fun! We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day and the turnout and support from the community was truly inspiring. All the girls (and even the adults!) had a fun-filled day of exercise. We even had a booth set up where participants could take home some jars of their favorite Randall Beans to continue their healthy activity at home. The Tekonsha IDEA even put together a wonderful write-up on the event, featuring our very own Kathy Pike and Denise Mauer, our Operations Manager and HR Manager.
Working with Girls on the Run of Branch County this year was such a rewarding experience and we couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunity! Thanks to everyone who participated or supported the 5K run event!
