Our beans are packaged in our plant in Tekonsha, Michigan. So, this summer we wanted to salute our state by incorporating our state fruit, cherries, into some summer baked beans. But wouldn’t adding cherries make already sweet baked beans too sweet? Don’t worry, this recipe brings the heat along with the sweet by using cherry pepper jam as our source for cherry flavor. The result is a unique baked beans recipe unlike anything you’ve ever had before, that we guarantee will be an all-star at your next BBQ.
This scrumptious summer salad from Our Salty Kitchen is so easy to prepare and is the perfect side dish for any meal off the grill. The key to this recipe is using the freshest ingredients you can to create that vibrant and fresh flavor. Zucchini, corn fresh off the cob, fresh herbs, and fresh lemon juice to help give it that little zing of citrus is an absolute must. She used cannellini beans in her recipe, but it would be even better with substituting out a 15.4oz. jar of Randall great northern beans.
Whether it is on pizza or cottage cheese, pineapple always seems to find itself in the middle of food controversy. Well, we can confidently say it falls on the side of amazing with these Hawaiian black bean burgers from Delish Knowledge. Aside from the pineapple on top (which is also delicious when allowed to be grilled for a little bit to develop some caramel flavoring) this black bean veggie burger has a pretty straightforward ingredient list. But, that pineapple really does make all the difference, adding that freshness and acidity to every bite and making it a perfect outdoor meal.
This garbanzo bean veggie burger recipe from our recipe developer, Kate, takes a different approach to a not so unusual recipe. The biggest difference here is where many veggie burgers embrace more American roots with heaps of lettuce, tomato, and maybe a little pickle, this burger embraces the Mediterranean roots of the beans that play such an integral role in the patty. A big part of that comes into play with the tasty homemade tahini sauce that it is served with. Try taking a little taste of the Mediterranean out to the backyard this summer.
